Meet MLA Tara Armstrong
Early Life & Career
Tara Armstrong was born on February 21st, 1973 in Edmonton, Alberta. Driven by a pioneering spirit and a deep sense of curiosity, Tara began her career in the airline industry in 1993 at just 20 years old. Two years later, she moved to British Columbia. Throughout her aviation career she's worked in Edmonton, Vancouver, Dubai, and she traveled extensively between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
In 2006 she joined her family business, Driving Miss Daisy, where she helped grow their small franchise into a nationally-recognized brand with locations across Canada.
In 2018, Tara appeared on Dragons’ Den and received partnership offers from three Dragons. The business was sold in 2021, and she remained its President through 2022 to lead its transition.
Entry to Politics
In 2023, Tara began her political journey by serving on the executive board of the Conservative Party of British Columbia. Encouraged by the party’s leadership and driven by a desire to serve her community, she stepped forward to run for Member of the Legislative Assembly.
With a small but dedicated team, Tara knocked on more than 12,000 doors across her riding, working tirelessly to earn the trust of voters and listening closely to the issues that mattered most to local families.
In the October 2024 provincial election, Tara was elected MLA for Kelowna–Lake Country–Coldstream with over 54% of the vote.
Fighting in the Legislature
After serving as a BC Conservative MLA, Tara chose to leave the party and sit as an independent following repeated ethical concerns with the party's leadership.
In June 2025 alongside former party colleagues, Tara co-founded OneBC and served as its House Leader in the Legislature. During the Fall 2025 Legislative Session, she fearlessly held the NDP government to account on the critical issues that others refused to address — defending families, freedoms, and the foundations of Western civilization.
In December 2025, she chose to once again sit as an independent MLA after losing confidence in the leadership of OneBC.
Today as an independent, Tara continues to champion the issues that matter most to British Columbians: restoring responsible immigration levels, unleashing economic growth, and preserving our history and culture.
